Exciting new start planned :)

Hope everyone is having a lovely holiday season, can't believe Christmas is almost here.  I just finished the last of my shopping, now to try and get the rest of the related stuff finished up.  Last night had a lovely time watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase, that is such a funny movie, love watching it every year.  I've also managed to catch Grinch (the original cartoon version), so 2 of my annual movies are seen.  Ones to go are Scrooged with Bill Murry, Muppets Christmas Carol, Christmas in Connecticut, and Rudolf, and, if time, The Ref.  So, what are the annual movies you all try to watch each year?

Stitching wise I decided to start a small pine mountain pillow, October, it's an older one with a cute little witch (surprise, surprise, I'm back to Halloween, LOL).  I've done this one before but gave it as a present, so this one will be for me.  I figure it will go quick and I'll have done well before Jan. 4th when I'll be starting the most complicated piece I've ever attempted.  Or maybe it just seems more complicated as it will have a ton more confetti stitching than I've dealt with before, but at least all the stitching is regular full cross stitch.  I joined the 2013 SAL on the HAED bulletin board and the one I picked to stitch is Literate Dragon.
Isn't he great?  I'm planning on doing him on 18ct, so he'll be about 9x9 when he's done and just over 20,000 stitches.  We get the pattern in installments, already have the floss requirements so have picked those up (there are almost 90 different colors), and the first part of the design will be emailed to us on Jan. 4th to start.  There were several designs to pick from and over 300 people participating, with about 130 of them signed up to do Literate Dragon so I should have plenty of help and motivation during the year (not to mention gorgeous WIP's to look at).  How many of you have a new start planned for the new year?

Two Easter finishes :)

It's been a while since my last post, but at least I have something to show for it :)

I've managed to finish Peep by LizzieKate, the fabric is really a lovely shade of pale mint green, and the bands are straight, not sure why the picture has the top band kind of cockeyed and fabric darker green in color, one of these days I may figure out how to take decent pictures.

My second piece that I both started and finished is another Easter project.  Not sure what it is with chicks and bunnies, normally they aren't what I stitch but both just called to me for some reason.  I'm not sure what the name of this piece is, it was a class project by Mosey and Me a number of years ago that I picked up even though had to miss the class and then just sort of tucked it away.  Finally it called to me enough to not only pull it out but to figure out the various specialty stitches that are in it.  It's done on a lovely light green, which actually shows halfway decent here (and since I took both pictures at the same time no idea why one is fairly true to color and the other is off).
Peep will get tucked into a little yellow tuck hanger which is already pre made, and when I get ambitious the bunny will get made into a bell pull.  Both were fun stitches, now to figure out what to work on next.  While I have larger projects, it's fun to have smaller ones for on the go or when you don't want to concentrate to hard.  Hmmm, sounds like a reason to go stash diving :)
