Little more progress and taxes

I did make some more headway on Snow Ho Ho this week. His beard is now done and I'm working on his coat. I really like how he's starting to look. Hopefully the enjoyment will still be there when I start putting in the border. While the border will really set it off, I tend to have a hard time staying motivated with borders, and projects drift back into WIP/UFO piles on occasion. However, the border for this is a lovely variegated blue, with a little bit of white here and there. Since blue is my favorite color, that should help keep my attention.

One of the reasons I didn't make a little more headway this week was taxes. Ugh, I hate doing those. I was good though and stayed focused and, THEY'RE DONE (big happy dance). So, mine are all finished and in the mail. Unfortunately I also do my daughters for her, so those are still in the to be done stack. Those are on my list to finish this week, at least her federal one. Still thinking through how to deal with the state(s). Since the circus plays in lots of states, they withhold taxes from her for the different states she works in. Some are easy, for example she worked in Florida but they don't have a state tax. However, she also worked in Texas, Michigan, Connecticut,..... so that should be ummmm interesting.

It was bright and sunny today, seeing the sun was so nice. I'm one of those people who really need sun, it just makes my whole outlook on life so much better. Tomorrow should have sun again too, with a high up to 34, this is shaping up to be a very nice weekend.

WIP progress

This week I worked on one of my older WIP's, and I think I made pretty good headway. First, here is how he looked before this week
And this is how he looks now

I was working on just his beard for a while, but decided to go back and do the backstitch to create his other eye and smile. I think he looks much better with his face (and no longer like the cyclops snowman, lol). He's been sitting negleted in my WIP pile for almost a year now. However, somehow I don't think he'll languish that long again. While we are past Christmas, there's still plenty of winter left (unfortunately), so I think I can have quite a good amount done before the weather starts to turn.

Remember Your Mittens

My newest finish is soooooo appropriate for the weather we are currently having. With the snow we've had recently we've gotten just under a foot of snow. Today, while not snowing, it is bitter cold. Last temperature I heard was 0, with a wind chill of 18 degrees below. Not fun, so if you're heading out you really need to -

This was such a fun stitch. Not only was it cute, but it was in my favorite color, I love blue. On top of that, being a tuck the finishing was so easy, just tuck it in and I'm done. This is now hanging in my stitching corner.
I did get out and brave the cold for a bit. I haven't been to one on the IMAX type shows in probably 20 years. However, a friend wanted to go to see U2 in 3D at the IMAX here. I had a great time (after I warmed up again) . It was fun going to see a concert that way. I wasn't sure how much I'd like it, but being able to really see U2 play (and Bono sing) was really enjoyable. For a change I didn't have someone in front of me blocking my view, or was so far back all they were were tiny figures on a stage way off in the distance. I'd definently go again.
