Framing, finishes, and a WIP

I've got some fun stuff to show off this time. I'll start with the largest and the one I'm most proud of, my Lizzie Kate Doubleflips are back from the framers :)
The wood on the frame is lighter on the outside with it turning darker along the inside edge (that's not shadows). Originally I was going to go with a more cream color frame, but this two toned one, and the slightly distressed look it has, seemed perfect. I love how it turned out and it's already hung in my living room.

My next framed finishes are Jinx and Jasper from Just Nan's Moonrider series, I framed them in the Just Nan Wimzi frames I finished up the pumpkin Jasper was holding this week so could frame him along with Jinx. I hadn't worked with the fusible interfacing before, but I really like how it made these two set up and be just the little bit firmer that they needed to be. I can see this coming in quite handy for other types of projects.

Finally, I finished up one more cat mat This was in some more of the lovely squishible Homespun yarn and again measured 20x28. The coloring isn't what I'd normally be drawn to, but I thought it was so pretty. As usual with my pictures the colors aren't quite right, they are much more jewel toned in real life. These cat mats have made wonderful projects for me to work on in the evenings, and with the weather turning colder, we had snow again this morning, it is a cosy evening project as well.

The WIP I pulled out to work on now, since decided to work on a project that is a little bit bigger than Jinx and Jasper were, is Joyful Summer by Country Cottage Needleworks. It's been a while since I had this one out to work on. Naturally with my timing I now find myself working on a summer piece going into winter. Oh well, I'll just pretend I'm getting an early start on next year. I didn't get a lot done this week, just the little bit of the new start of another flower up at the top. However, now that it is out again and in my stitching corner I think it will move along.

You double flip frame is gorgeous and looks great with the project.

I love that JOY piece. Stitching -- it's seasonless.

    At least I hope so.

When you go to the TSO concert, would you let me know which group you get. They have two touring troupes.

For the past 8 years we've seen the group with Al Pitrilli, Jane Mangini-Pitrilli, Angus Clark and Tommy Ferese.

I was so hoping we would see them again, but we got the other group. For the most part it was still the same, but the man that sung Ornament and This Christmas Day wasn't quite as good. The narrator wasn't the same as Tony Gaynor, but was good in his own way.

Enjoy the concert. No matter which troupe you see, they are awesome!

OMG! I was debating between that same frame and the one I chose. It is uncanny how we keep coming up with the same stuff even when we don't plan it that way. I love little Jinx and Jasper. The joy piece looks gorgeous as well.

FANTASTIC! You must be so proud of your LKs all framed up :o)

Jinx and Jasper are so cute! So you used fusible interfacing instead of lacing them? Is that the idea?

Yes, it has been awhile since you worked on that project! It shouldn't take you too long to finish it and then that way, you'll be all set for next year. Although do I remember correctly that you were working on winter projects this past summer ;o)

I don't lnow how I missed your post until today.
Doubleflips turned out fantastic! I HAVE to make it now! Just beautiful. The frame is perfect for it.
Jinx and Jasper are so cute. Do those frames come in a kit with the stitching, or are they separate? Another pretty cat mat..another lucky kitty. ou are so generous! I should really be doing that myself. I have plenty of yarn I could use to use up my stash...
Doing a summer stitch when winter is coming is perfectly fine. It would make me think about how nice the summer was and look forward to next year's warmer weather!

that LK project came out so nice!!! It's always nice to see the projects not just finished but FRAMED as well! That seems to be my biggest problem.

and what a great cat mat!!! I love those colors and it looks SO squishy! I dropped mine off at the shelter yesterday and they were thrilled to get them.

The summer project? PERFECT timing if you ask me. What a great way to add color to a time when it's a bit drab. However you'll probably be done by Feb when you'll REALLY need the bright colors so get another summer or spring one ready!
