First finish for 2008

Well I have my first finish for 2008
Gingerbread Cottage
Designed by Country Cottage Needleworks
Done on 28ct Vintage Country Mocha Linen

It was actually finished a couple nights ago, after staying up way to late working on it. However, it was just so close to being done, and it was such a fun stitch, I couldn't wait to see it completed. The original design had a border on it as well, but I decided to leave that off. I don't really like doing borders, and as I'm planning on framing this with a mat I don't think it will need one.
I haven't yet decided if I'm going to start a new project, or give some time to one (or more) of my WIP's for a while. There is another WIP in my stash that has been calling out for some stitching time (in addition to Dragons and Mice that I had in my last post), Snow Ho Ho by Waxing Moon.

I think I started him in late 2006, so he's been around for a bit. He's on 28ct denim blue jobelan, which even though it is a darker fabric isn't to bad to stitch on. While it is past Christmas, it is still winter so he's season appropriate, lol. Athough at this point we don't have any of the snow left from before. This is what he'll look like when he's done, so I do have a good start on him.
The weather has been so strange lately. Today was colder, but the last two days have been around 60 degrees. I can't believe that almost a foot of snow melted in two days. Then the last two days we've had lots of rain, and even a thunderstorm, very strange weather for January.
However, even if I focus on one or more of my WIP's, I still need to have a smaller project for quick pick-ups and working on the go, which I don't have at the moment, so....I think I need to go stash diving, always a fun past time. :)

Hi Sue: Awesome Gingerbread Cottage! Congrats.

The other one, is too cute! Very relaxing to stitch a holiday piece in January -- you have loads of time before the big day in 2008 : )

I hope to get moving on a couple samplers in my stash this month & have a repro SAL to look forward to in February [guess everybody didn't get a kit - yet].

Cute Snow HO Ho and the Gingerbread Cottage is perfect without a border. Can't wait to see it framed.

We've had wierd weather too --- hot one day and chilly the next. No wonder we are all coming down with colds.

The snow ho ho wip is pretty. I thought it was a duck at first because of the carrot nose, what a cute design.

It also really pops on that fabric.

Congrats on your 1st 08 finisg, The swing as well was my first finish for this year. =^-^=

you said you can't see the picture, it's in my webshots album as well, if you want to take a peek: (hope this helps)

GC is very cute! I don't think it needs a border especially with a mat. I love Snow ho ho as well. Stash diving could be dangerous; you might find several things calling out to you, LOL.

Both projects look great! I think it's great to have a few finishes in January because it truly drives the stitching mojo for the rest of the year

Congrats on your first 08 finish! It's a really sweet design. I don't care much for borders either - and neither does my local framer. She always says it's hard to get stitched borders dead straight while framing.

Snow Ho Ho is adorable! I'm glad you posted the finished model picture, because for a while I thought he was a cyclops snowman. :P

Thanks for visiting my blog and for your kind encouragement. I am glad that I am able to inspire our stitching community. There will be another page added in a day or two and two more within the next week or two. Your gingerbread cottage is simply divine!

Sue, You must try kayaking! I have found it to be the very best tranquilizer around. At one point during a particularly stressful job I had, I took my kayak to the local harbor. Within an hour and a half I was feeling so relaxed. It is a great upper body workout as well, but it doesn't feel like exercise at all. I haven't been for a while, because I bought a new truck and it doesn't have racks right now. My kayak is too long just to throw in the back. But soon, soon.

Yes, stash diving is a lot of fun! But very messy too as far as I'm concerned. Lol!
Your Gingerbread cottage is stunning! I also have it in my stash and I'm waiting for the threads to start it. I wonder what fabric I will choose as I realize it does change the atmosphere completely!
Snow Ho Ho is a nice project, makes me smile when I see it. It's still time to work on it, for sure! You just have to think that it's still winter and that santa left his clothes for this poor freezing snowman... Lol!
Anyway, it's always time to stitch something for Xmas: here in France, it's the second year that a sal takes place in which every stitcher makes one ornie per month. In the end, you get to show your Xmas tree decorated with your ornies. I like the idea.
    Take care, Sue,
    Lili

    Hi Sue,

Congratulations on finishing Gingerbread Cottage. It's so pretty. Some really lovely colours, and the fabric that you stitched it on shows the design off nicely. I've ordered this one too and I can't wait to get it.

I'm glad you've picked up the snowman to stitch on again because he is really cute. I've got a snowman design coming and I really want to start stitching it because I love it so much. Who cares whether it's season appropriate or not.

We're having the same weird weather that you're enjoying (??). All our snow is gone after almost a week of warmer (for us) temperatures. It's going to get cold again by the end of the week though. We've still got two and a half months of winter weather to get through, unfortunately.
